Sam Cullen – On The Corner: New Song Of The Day

Sam Cullen channels his inner Bruce (by way of The Killers) in his new song, On The Corner.

Straight outta Invercargill, here is the latest from Sam Cullen for your aural excitement. And here is the record company blurb with more:

Sam CullenSam Cullen unveils his first single of the year – On The Corner, an upbeat, anthemic, nostalgic track, beautifully reflective of Cullen’s ability to bring 80’s stadium rock into 2021. This track is the first taste of Cullen’s upcoming EP, Run, which will be released on 19 November.

On The Corner was written as a soundtrack to escaping the madness of the world. With sonic lashings of Springsteen-rock, the threat of the night looms as Cullen’s characters chase the sun on the horizon. Powerful production choices from Cullen, and co-producer Harry Charles, embrace deep emotion. Released with the track is an animated lyric video, created by animator CTOOONZ. The video is hand drawn, using frame by frame animation, which follows Cullen’s characters’ journey to freedom.

Sam CullenOn The Corner lays the foundation for Run, the first of a two EP project put together by Cullen over last year. With Run, which will be released on 19 November, Cullen enters a new sonic territory that hallmarks him as an artist who is honing his stadium rock influences, while crafting a sound and career built upon the foundations of modern synth pop-rock. Run features a stunning array of features, productions, and co-writes that fans will adore (including a collaboration with Wellington based artist Josie Moon), and its image and sonic palette clearly reflect his influences and small-town NZ upbringing as he follows a path that is leading to something special.

Over the past year Cullen has steadily climbed the ladder of success; releasing his debut EP, performing the main stage of Rhythm & Vines on Dec 31st, selling out a number of shows on his first nationwide headline tour, and playing alongside Sweet Mix Kids on their nationwide tour. The Big Idea also named him as one of five acts in their article titled ‘Your New Favourite NZ Act This Summer.’
