Search For Yeti – Red: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Te Whanganui-a-Tara based trio Search For Yeti are proud to announce the release of their debut single Red, a soaring and layered 7-minute epic.

Here’s the blurb:

The track, available from 10 August on all major streaming platforms, is accompanied by a dreamy music video and atmospheric artwork.

Search For YetiSearch For Yeti are Luke Marlow (vocals/guitar), Vince Waide (bass/guitar/Moog Taurus/vocals) and Sean Barker (drums/samples/vocals).
Red is the first track from their debut album currently being recorded with producer Toby Lloyd (Tiny Triumph Recordings) and set for release early 2024. The drums were recorded and engineered by Terry Bradford at Studio Le Grange in France. Mastered by Grammy nominated mastering engineer Robin Schmidt. The song also features well-known Pōneke artist Charley Davenport on cello.
The band describe the song as “reflective and cinematic” with Waide adding, “it’s at least in part about those pivotal moments in your life that change you forever and lead you to try and be a better person.”
Barker sums up the emotive nature of Red with, “It’s got a warmth as you listen to take you to a faraway place that feels equal parts unknown and familiar.”

The equally epic music video, made in true kiwi DIY style by the band themselves, showcases beautiful landscapes filmed by Marlow and Barker, combined with energetic live footage of the band. “The goal of the video was to try to create a visual accompaniment that matched the feeling of dreaminess evoked by the song” says Marlow.

Search For Yeti are celebrating the single’s release with a hometown show at Moon in Newtown on Thursday 17 August, and can also be seen a few days later at the ‘Gig for the Greens’ show on Sunday 20 August at Vogelmorn Hall, playing alongside New Zealand music legend Julia Deans.
