Shovels & Rope – Domino: New Song Of The Day
Shovels & Rope pay homage to James Dean in their new song, Domino.
‘September 30, 1955’ is the first lyric in Domino and it is also the day James Dean died tragically in a car crash, age 24. According to the press release: “The song serves as a tongue-in-cheek commentary on how we look at celebrity in our country,”
Shovels & Rope are the South Carolina duo Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst and they plan to release their seventh album, titled Manticore, on February 18, 2022.
Here’s what they have to say about the new record:
“Manticore is a more intimate album speaking to the human experience, some of it deeply personal,”
“It’s not heavy metal, but in our guts, it feels a bit like Heavy Metal,” Michael Trent said of Manticore.
“As fans have come to expect from Shovels & Rope, they hold nothing back. Their character-driven narratives often reflect their own feelings about life, love and our ever-changing society,”
