Silcrow Final Gig – Big Fan: August 11, 2023 (Concert Photos)

Silcrow bid us a fond farewell as Lorenzo and Oscar head overseas. But not before they put a once last show that was wild and loud!

In fact wild and loud best describes the entire evening as Silcrow was supported by four, count them, four other bands. The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda was there as was photographer David Fu.

Fortunately 13th Floor photographer David Fu had plenty of film, or whatever format he was shooting on.

Brackenwood CovenFirst up was Brackenwood Coven who are Craig Pearson and Summah Auvae. I can’t tell you much about them as I missed their set (other 13th Floor business…) but here are David’s photos:

Brackenwood Coven

BoondocksI did get there to catch most of The Boondocks who are a duo, usually Branden Pritchard on sticks, Scott Parker on Frequencies, but drummer Branden broke his leg and so “Liam” sat in and was quite impressive. They covered Royal Blood’s Out Of The Black and cranked out originals like Beefcake and Bear With Me. They got the job done.

The Boondocks:

AnimalheadThe ears were ringing, but we’re just getting started! Big Fan has never sounded so heavy. And Animalhead raised the level immediately. There was headbanging, there was lots of cowbell as the doom metal sound of the trio pinned fans to the wall. Drummer Dan hit ’em so hard he had to replace his snare. But the show went on.

Animalhead:

MothraNext up, Mothra! An instrumental post-rock outfit that provided a welcome changeup from what went on before them. The crowd chilled, the band rocked and the screen on the wall showed scenes of vintage film,  Mothra vs Godzilla. Very cool.

SilcrowAnd then there was Silcrow. By this time it is well after 11pm, the Football is over at nearby Eden Park and we have the street to ourselves. Lorenzo and Oscar and the rest of the band played like there is no tomorrow. And maybe that’s true. We heard brand new single, Believe, Lorenzo’s voice impressing one and all. And Oscar cut loose on many occasions. Watch out London!
