Sophie Scott-Maunder (she/her), Jonathan Shirley (he/him), and Laura Robinson (she/her) make up Soft Plastics, an indie rock trio based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington.

Their tour begins on April 24th at a secret location in Whanganui, followed by another mysterious date in Wellington on May 1st. They then travel to the Yot Club in Raglan on May 7th and their final date will be in Auckland at Whammy Bar on May 8.

The secrecy surrounding the early dates will be quelled in the coming weeks (with ticket holders being notified of the location on the day of). In the meantime we suggest you take a leap of faith and grab a pre-sale ticket from Undertheradar.

Before starting Soft Plastics, Sophie and Jonathan were part of psychedelic surf group Beatcomber. Following their disbandment in 2019, the duo regrouped with Laura Robinson on drums and quickly released an eponymous debut EP, whose songs were instantly playlisted across the Student Radio Network. Then followed the #1 SRN hit ‘My World/Your Girl’ plus an extensive tour throughout Aotearoa.

While the sun still remains high in the sky, Soft Plastics will perform at the Parrotdog Wilson Street Stage at this year’s Newtown Festival. Expect to see them release fresh music in the coming weeks.
