Teenage Joans release Superglue today so get stuck into it!

Here’s the blurb with more:

Teenage JoansYou’ll be glued to your speakers the second the brand new single Superglue from Aussie punk-pop duo Teenage Joans kicks in. A buoyant and emphatic anthem from the Adelaide pair, Superglue not only marks the first new Teenage Joans for 2023 – it also signals a sharp new sonic chapter for the band.

“Superglue is about the turmoil of growing apart from someone once you feel like you’re already “glued” to them, almost like the longer you stay with them the rougher “ripping” yourself off of them is going to be,” shares Cahli Blakers of their infectious yet firmly relatable new track. “The Easter Bunny is a metaphor for sadness/depression and the Tooth Fairy is a metaphor for fear/anger – we wrote about becoming “friends” with these emotions as the situation becomes more and more toxic.”

“With Superglue being the first single back, we wanted to give listeners something that we feel encapsulates both our old and new sound,” she continues. “We always knew this song would be the first single back, we’ve been playing it live for a few years now and it’s definitely one of our favourite songs to play. If someone said “what’s the most ‘Teenage Joans’ song you guys have written” the answer would probably be Superglue!”

Forming in 2018, Teenage Joans would go on to nab the triple j Unearthed High crown in 2020 while also insatiably charming audiences around the country over the years with their self-professed “juice-box punk-pop” sonic stylings. Having previously shared stages with the likes of Amy Shark, Violent Soho, Ball Park Music, The Chats and many more, the duo have also continued to establish themselves as firm festival faves, with appearances at Spin Off, Yours & Ours, UNIFY Gathering and beyond.

Teenage JoansFrom their debut EP, 2021’s Taste Of Me which saw the group blitz through and win seven South Australian Music Awards, to their blazing and most recent single, 2022’s Terrible, Teenage Joans continue to weave musical magic via their indie-pop-punk collision packed full of fun and engaging finesse. And while 2022 closed out with a bang via a headline tour around the country, 2023 is already shaping up to be Teenage Joans‘ biggest and brightest yet, with recent appearances at Groovin The Moo alongside Alt-J, Amy Shark, Ball Park Music, Nothing But Thieves and more, as well as three SXSW showcases in March firmly in their wake.

Fans can also catch the singalong-ready new Teenage Joans single Superglue and plenty of fan-faves live in action later this month, with the duo locked in for the Adelaide edition of UNIFY Off The Record on Friday 26 May, appearing with Thornhill, Ocean Grove, Yours Truly, The Beautiful Monument, alt., The Last Martyr and Wildheart at Hindley Street Music Hall.
