The Tuning Fork presents: Fork N Funny

Fork n Funny returns in February with URZILA CARLSON, RHYS MATHEWSON, NICK RADO & JAMES NOKISE (MC).

In a fully seated setting, The Tuning Fork will showcase the best of local comedy this February. Audiences will be able to order food and drinks directly to their table from their mobiles throughout the show – even if you’re in the front row, although you never know what the comedians will have to say about your order! In the intimate environment of The Tuning Fork everyone’s fair game for some banter.

The Tuning Fork will be paying careful attention to public health and safety advice on social gatherings and will be working to create a safe and comfortable environment for all attendees. Any restrictions on gathering sizes will be adhered to carefully, but as a seated show Fork n Funny will endeavour to run under Level 1 or Level 2 restrictions. Visit The Tuning Fork website for up to date information on shows.

URZILA CARLSON
Multi-award-winning South African-New Zealander, Urzila Carlson, has become one of the biggest names in comedy in Australia and New Zealand.

A television favourite in both countries, Urzila is a much-loved series regular on both the Australian and New Zealand versions of the award-winning comedy panel show Have You Been Paying Attention?. Her trademark deadpan humour and cheeky wit has seen her win fans the world over for her television appearances and live shows. A touring powerhouse, Urzila has toured the globe and sells out live shows year after year.

In 2019, Urzila became the highest-selling comedian in the 33-year long history of The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world. She also took home the coveted People’s Choice Award the same year and made her Netflix debut as part of the streaming service’s unprecedented world-wide comedy series, Comedians Around the World which saw Urzila handpicked as was one of 47 comedians to perform a half-hour special filmed at Just For Laughs in Montreal.

RHYS MATHEWSON
Rhys’ energy and youthful take on complex issues has seen him recognized as a comedic force among his local and international peers.

Rhys was plucked out of obscurity in 2006 as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival’s Class Comedians programme. His talents were recognized by the industry and he soon began gigging professionally and returned to perform ensemble shows at the Festival while at still at school. Then in 2009 his first solo show “The Best $18 You’ll Ever Spend” won him the Festival’s “Best Newcomer” Award and the critic’s respect and in 2010 he became the youngest ever winner of the coveted Billy T Comedy Award.

Rhys’ charm, self deprecating humour, his wonderful story telling talents combined with his perfectly delivered on-liners and physical presence make him a joy to watch.NICK RADO
Nick Rado is a multi-award winning writer, MC and stand-up comedian. Nick is a panellist and head writer (over 250 episodes) for TV3’s award-winning topical news comedy show ‘7 Days’, he is the only comedian to win the NZ Comedy Guild Award for ‘Best Comedy MC’ five times, he is the winner of Best Male Comedian NZ Comedy Guild Awards 2019, performed at the Sydney Opera House for the prestigious Just for Laughs Sydney, has opened for Rob Brydon & Aziz Ansari on their national tours, As seen on, The Comedy Channel Australia and the Nightwatchmen and Narrow World of Sports for Fox Sports Australia.

JAMES NOKISE (MC)
A 2013 Fred Dagg Comedy Award Nominee and 2 time Billy T Comedy Award Nominee, Welsh / Samoan comedian, James Nokise, has carved out a reputation in New Zealand going after everything from gangs, to politicians, to stereotypes within Pacific Culture.

Over the last couple of years he’s been to the Edinburgh and Adelaide Festivals; guest lectured at Universities; been a member of the award winning Puppet Fiction (Pulp Fiction with Puppets) crew; written Wellington’s most popular political satire series (Public Service Announcements); all while continuing to be a regular host at Wellington and Auckland comedy clubs, as well as a commentator for Radio Live and 531 PI.
