TiGER – Chameleon: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day
Tāmaki Makaurau alt-soul artist TiGER has today shared his chill-giving new single, Chameleon.
Here is the blurb with more:
Taking listeners on a mesmerising journey ‘Chameleon’ confronts one of TiGER’s most personal narratives to date, where this ‘siren of soul’ reflects on imperfection, desperation, longing and his own near miss with danger.

“I was naïve and he wasn’t,” tells TiGER. “When he conveniently found somebody new, I [went on] to live promiscuously, using men to shapeshift into the very boy that wounded me… until, the guy he left me for told me that he had been assaulted by him in various ways. I was shocked, but after thinking about it, I wasn’t.”
TiGER says that, the shock of this revelation — and the hindsight clarity that followed — forms the core emotional backbone of ‘Chameleon’. “All my music is about life lessons and being fierce enough to show the good and the bad that comes with being human. In this song, I hope people learn to listen to their gut, know their self-worth, and know who they are as people, because changing yourself entirely to fit someone else is no way to live.
A lesson in aposematism (a rule in nature warning that, the more beautiful something – or someone – is, the more fatal), ‘Chameleon’ is a track that may just prove fatal to your current favourite single.

Along with its gritty origin story, what makes this track an instant love affair and repeat listen is TiGER’s impressive vocals, hypnotic performance and smooth production by Bray Jeffrey, engineered/mastered by Rawiri Waters. Fusing the soulful warmth of R&B with the intimacy of jazz and atmospheric depth of an alternative cinematic production, ‘Chameleon’ is proudly funded by New Zealand On Air and released under Timeless Records – a rising independent label dedicated to elevating innovative artists in Aotearoa.
‘Chameleon’ is accompanied by a stunning music video directed/shot by Tiago Kerber at Piha Beach.
Bringing TiGER’s story to life through bold imagery and a cinematic palette, the video visually expands the themes of vulnerability, illusion, and transformation. Piha Beach – known for its rugged beauty and danger – proves to be the perfect location. Captured on super 8 film during the golden hour, this work of art has that vintage quality that oozes authenticity and drama. Also involved in the creation of the video was Dyego Cortinas (lighting), Ivanna Trujillo (production assistant/social-media) and Sid Naidu (Production Assistant).
A genre-blending exploration of danger and self-discovery, ‘Chameleon’ is the fifth single to be released by TiGER aka Daniel Ly. Also the opening track to his forthcoming debut album, the artist says it signals an evocative era focused on his past – one defined by sonic and visual grandeur.
