Up The Punx 2023 Line-up Announced for 10 June at The Thirsty Dog

Up The Punx Announced an All-Star Lineup featuring bankRobbers (and many guests) for a wild night at The Thirsty Dog in AKL on June 10.

The extremely loose conglomerate of musicians that make up the All-Star punk covers band, and the PUNK IT UP series of events “house band”, bankRobbers, are extremely pleased to announce their “getting together once again, for a knees up” in a nice small venue on a Saturday night.

Up The PunxThe current iteration of the band features Shamus O’Brien (Bombers), Andrew Boak (No Tag, Skinaffect [USA]), Chris Orange (X-Features, Terrorways) and Keegan Rowlands (X-Features), will be joined by their original drummer Chris King (Brassouls, X-Features) who has escaped back to AKL from the frozen tundra of the lower South Island, and will also have Simon Phillips (The Bombers, HLAH) drop some mighty bass riffs on you, as he is known to do…

bankRobbers will be doing a good long set, swapping out players through the set, in order to give you a full-on full-blast of punk and post-punk classics, with many other All Star guests doing songs with them as well.

These “musical mates” include, but are not limited to, members of The Instigators, Spelling Mistakes, The Bombers, Cootie Cuties, X-Features, Die Die Die, and there’s even a very strong possibility that one or two of the Beagle Boys from Proud Scum may be joining in for this Saturday Night Singalong.

Joining bankRobbers on Sat June 10 will be X-Features, led by the one and only Jed Town, a man of many talents, from the lush ethereal soundscapes of Fetus Productions, to the Thumping Techno of ICU, and all the way to the original raw-edge sounds of The Features. He is joined by original Features member Chris Orange, and new drummer Keegan Rowlands, and you can be guaranteed a raucous set of classics.

Up The Punx

First band up will be those young whippersnappers of the current scene, Cootie Cuties, bringing their fun, but deadly serious, songs to you in the wonderful live setting of The Thirsty Dog. If you haven’t wrapped your sensoral devices (eyes and ears) around this band yet, then we’re fairly sure you better check if you still have a pulse…. totally a new band that is a must-see.

Rounding off the night of punk rock’n’roll, will be the Punk It Up DJ Crew. Miss Dom, Dubhead, and Phil A will spin classics ALL NIGHT LONG in between the bands, in fact, we may even open slightly earlier, so you can enjoy the excellent range of libations at The Thirsty, whilst nodding your head to the phenomenal soundtrak the PIU Crew provide when they “bring the noize”

Tickets are on sale via Under The Radar, but be quick, as there is a very small amount of spaces available, due to the small maximum legal capacity of the venue. Once the tickets are sold, that’s it, in fact, to make things fair, we have a limit of 2 tickets per purchaser.

Tickets are $34.56 for General Admission, and $23.45 for student or unwaged (proof may be required for entry).
