Watch: 13th Floor MusicTalk with Joey Molland
His former band, Badfinger, has one of the darkest legacies in music history. But surviving member Joey Molland is simply sunny as he talks about his new solo album, Be True To Yourself.
The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda spoke to Joey this morning just ahead of the release of his Mark Hudson-produced record scheduled for October 16th.
As you’ll see, after the suicides of two of his former bandmates and the death from a brain aneurysm of another, Joey is the last man standing. And he is standing tall with a fine new album full of surprisingly upbeat, optimistic songs.

Loved the interview. Joey’s optimism is infectious (in the best possible way), and the songs on the album are great!!!! Thanks.

Great interview. Joey was and still is my favorite member of badfinger. I just wish joey would release a live cd. There is one out there but the mixing is as joey might call it “rubbish”. It’s not an official release and comments of the cd on amazon are not good. It’s called joey molland’s badfinger live at sellersville, pa. I was going to buy it but decided not to for 2 reasons. 1st the recording is bad and 2nd joey does not receive any money for it since it’s a bootleg. It has great artwork on the front and back cover. One person says save your money..don’t buy it. Maybe if it was a soundboard recording. I’ll just wait for a official live release from joey. Maybe in 2021. I wonder if joey knows about this cd. Oh, by the way his new studio cd is awesome. Does remind me of the beatles. Thanks
