Yumi Zouma – Truth Or Consequences (Inertia)
Now spread out between London, New York and New Zealand, the four members of Yumi Zouma have reunited for this, their third album.
The band presents us with 10 dreamy, synth-pop tracks that can wash over the listener like a gentle wave. But, I found that these songs, driven by Christie Simpson’s breathy, reverb-drenched vocals tended to lull me into slumber rather than generate much excitement.
Grated, these songs are well crafted and the production is slick. But their brand of disco-lite grooves and mumbled lyrics leaves me cold.
I’m sure that there are plenty of folks who will enjoy Yumi Zouma’s latest foray into blandness and mediocracy. But not me.

Pretty hard to live up to their first two EPs though. Would of liked to of seen them continue working with their original singer who was on those early records. She really bought the sound and melodies together
