13th Floor New Song Of The Day: Cavalcade – Twisted Paradise

From Northland comes new music from Cavalcade.

The duo has just released their latest EP, The Vacancy and Twisted Paradise is the lead track on the record.

Here’s the record company blurb with details:

Hailing from Whangarei, New Zealand, their impressive songcraft and unique brand of emotionally super-charged indie pop electronica draws on the vast, rugged backgrounds of their home country. Driven by the remarkably emotive vocals of Amberly Shepherd, THE VACANCY EP demonstrates a real maturity of production and sound, and touches on the duo’s struggle with balancing a life of remoteness and natural beauty, with the feeling of being left behind in terms of technology and opportunity.

It’s this frustration, coupled with the fact that the EP came “quite literally from the parentals basement”, that adds to the sense of coming of age within THE VACANCY EP. With the band describing how each track serves as a “snippet from a few of the significant stages in our lives”, the EP focuses on the challenges of becoming a young adult, detachment and an internal struggle with ‘what is right and what feels right at the time’.

“We felt like it was important this time round to take the reigns in terms of writing and recording each instrument ourselves, which meant using what we had in our basement for majority of the EP”, say the band, giving THE VACANCY EP an even greater personal attachment.

Cavalcade boast an impressive reputation, with a groundswell of media support here in their home country, New Zealand, having sync’d all three EP tracks in the hit TV show ‘The Heights’ plus an upcoming live performance and placement in the enduring and ever popular Australian TV show ‘Neighbours’.
