13th Floor New Song Of The Day: Dion – Hymn To Him

He’s a rock & roll original. Dion DiMucci has been making records since 1957. And now here he is with a new song featuring Patti Scialfa and a guy named Bruce.

Dion got his start singing on the streetcorners in The Bronx with his friends who went on to be known as The Belmonts. Dion & The Belmonts had a string of hits in the late 1950s including I Wonder Why, No One Knows and A Teenager In Love.

By the early 60s, Dion was a solo artist and the hits kept on coming…The Wanderer, Runaround Sue and Abraham, Martin And John.

Dion DiMucci has been productive ever since. Check out his 1989 album, Yo Frankie, produced by Dave Edmunds and featuring Lou Reed, Paul Simon and k.d. lang.

Now, at age 80, Dion has a new album in the works. It’s called Blues With Friends, and what friends he has. They include Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons and Paul Simon and the liner notes are written by none other than Bob Dylan.

Blues With Friends is due out on June 5th. In the meantime, enjoy Hymn To Him.
