13th Floor New Song Of The Day: The Loving Arms – Angel In Disgrace

New music from old friends in a new guise…Auckland’s The Loving Arms have just released the debut song, Angel In Disgrace.

And just who are these Loving Arms? They are:

Mark Beesley – vocals, piano
Dominic Blaazer – organ, guitar, vocals
Steven Shaw – bass
Bryan Shaw – drums
Catherine Townsend – vocals

Last time we heard from most of these folks they were playing with Jed Town as Ghost Town. Not only are we treated to a new song and video, but there is a live show on for tonight. Here’s the record company blurb with details:

Auckland band The Loving Arms drop their debut single and video today ahead of an intimate live showcase at Freida Margolis on Saturday Oct 17.

Produced by Kerry Furlong, Angel in Disgrace is the first track from the band’s debut EP expected early in the new year.

Furlong’s production weaves a spell-binding cinematic ambience through the band’s simple alt country ballad that rewards repeat listens. Angel in Disgrace is written by singer and piano player Mark Beesley (last heard on Jed Town’s Ghost Town LP Sky is Falling).

Blaazer, Shaw, Shaw and Beesley played with Jed Town in Ghost Town whose acclaimed 2017 LP Sky is Falling is also released on Ghost Records.

With Angel in Disgrace, THE LOVING ARMS continue Ghost Town’s exploration of alt-Americana song forms, creating a sonic world of beauty and mystery all their own. The song is a taste of what’s to come from a remarkable set of recordings made over the last 18 months at Auckland’s Red Trolley studio.
