13th Floor YouTube Premiere: John Ellison – Welcome Back
Just added to The 13th Floor’s YouTube channel: this soulful recording of Welcome Back by John Ellison.
John Ellison was the driving force behind The Soul Brothers Six. Back in the ’60s they recorded for Atlantic Records, releasing their original version of Some Kind Of Wonderful, written by John and later covered by Grand Funk.
Welcome Back is the title track to John Ellison’s 1993 album, released on After Hours Records, the Rochester, NY-based label run by Marty Duda and Veronica McLaughlin, who now bring you The 13th Floor. The album was produced by Marty Duda along with John and guitarist Greg Townson, who now plays with Los Straitjackets. The backing band was Rochester, NY’s The Salamanders.
