AmericanaFest 2022: Day 3: 13th Floor In Nashville

AmericanaFest 2022 marches on! Today we bring you highlights from Day 3 of The 13th Floor in Nashville.

If you check out our report of Day 2, you’ll know we had a very full day. So we started out slow and easy with a trip into the main drag and settling for breakfast at the Acme Feed & Seed. Sure enough, even though it was only 10am, there was a band on stage and the bar was open.

Susannah and I helped ourselves to a couple of morning “cocktails” and enjoyed the band who was fronted by a young man who looked and sounded like the late, great Gram Parsons.

Seminars were going on all throughout Nashville but we decided to head out to American Legion Post #82 where Easy Eye Records was hosting a BBQ all day long. We arrived early (about 11:30am) to catch a young up-and-coming country singer by the name of Brit Taylor.

Brit played a beautiful 30-minute set and once we met her, we arranged to record an interview the following day. There was a bit of star spotting to be had at this somewhat exclusive affair…I ran into Nicole Atkins who remembered being interviewed by me and said hi. And, this being an Easy Eye event, there were rumours of an appearance by The Black Keys.

But first, we needed to hi-tail it back into town to enjoy the WME AmericanaFest Happy Hour that started at 3pm and went on til 6:00. This was basically an excuse to eat and drink all afternoon and that’s just what we did.

Then we Ubered back to the American Legion Post to catch a surprise performance by none other that Hank Williams, Jr. Hank was on fire, backed by a rocking band, that may have included The Black Keys at some point. Hank Jr is on Easy Eye and his new album, Rich White Honky Blues sounds like it might be a killer!

Night night was still young, but I was not. Yet the party continued back in town with sets by Molly Tuttle, Nicki Bluhm, James McMurtry, Laney Lou & The Bird Dogs and Whitehorse, to name a few.

So much for taking it easy!
