Concert Review: Welcome Back Whammy! Cindy, Na Noise and Matthew Crawley Rock The Joint, 11 June 2020

It was just like old times…familiar faces, familiar sounds…Whammy was back. Although I do believe it smelled better than it has in the past. Cindy kicked off the night with a frantic, hi-energy set, captured in this photo essay.

Things kicked off at an uncharacteristically early time (8:30pm) with Cindy. The band is fronted by Scott Brown (ex DHDFD’s) and his performances are legendary. When I last saw them at Whammy there was blood everywhere after his Iggy-like stage act. Fortunately no blood was shed tonight, but there was plenty of energy. The crowd (admission was free!) was obviously thrilled to be back at Whammy and to be rocking out.

After a brief break, Na Noise took the stage, laying down a much mellower, almost ambient groove. It was the perfect follow-up from the chaotic noise-fest we had just heard.

Rounding out the evening was DJ Matthew Crawley who entertained the crowd into the wee hours. And he even played requests!

It was great to be back. Now check out 13th Floor photographer Veronica McLaughlin’s photo essay to relive the event in the safety of your own computer.
