Country Westerns – Forgive The City (Fat Possum) ⭐⭐⭐

Country Westerns come roaring back with their second album with a sound and a fury that will leave you breathless.

Sporting a new bass player in the person of Jordan Jones, the trio is once again produced by Matt Sweeney (Zwan, Skunk) and once again they rock relentlessly with Knucklen’ starting things off at a break-neck speed.

Country WesternsFor those wondering what The Replacements would sound like fronted by Steve Earle, well, wonder no longer.

Tracks like Grapefruit and Cussin’ Christians take no prisoners with It’s A Livin’ proving to be a personal favourite with its melodic bass line and heavy jangly guitar.

Elsewhere, Something Goes Wrong finds front man Joey Plunket sounding like a raspier Bruce Springsteen.

I’m feeling like Plunket’s voice gets lost in the mix from time to time and the record as a whole starts to lose its momentum as it comes to a close, but otherwise a solid effort from these hard-rockin’ country boys.
