Gramsci Confirm Long Overdue Album Release Show!

In Celebration of Auckland’s Return to Level One Gramsci Confirm Long Overdue Album Release Show!  Friday 16 October – ASB Waterfront Theatre – Auckland

If ever there was a hunger to congregate we feel it now. With Auckland now joining the rest of the country at Level One, the green light finally signals a return to some sense of normality for the hard-hit live entertainment scene – at last, a time to celebrate!

5/5 “… a truly stunning album… For all those who want music to take them to a place where there is room for thought and contemplation, where there is real depth and none of the shallowness many take for granted.”Progressor

5/5 “Inheritance may well become a Kiwi legacy album” – Muzic NZ

“Gramsci’s new album ‘Inheritance’ is full of sonic surprises that stay with you long after the music dies down.”The 13th Floor

“Here he has rediscovered the poetic power of a rock trio, the possibilities of widescreen sonic landscapes and guitar solos…It’s another impressive and different album from McLaney, brought into real presence by Mulholland and Haver… this is an album which sounds like it should probably come with a light show. And that’s another good thing about it.”Elsewhere

In June Gramsci released Inheritance, their first album in 15 years, to overwhelming critical applause. The album’s first 2 singles, ‘Ancient History’ and ‘Like A Scar’ are currently spinning their way through the airwaves across the country.

The debut live performance of the album by the trio Paul McLaney, Greg Haver and Jol Mulholland, was originally scheduled for August but suffered postponement a soul-destroying three times due to COVID-19 restrictions.

At long last, the good news is that now the show CAN go on, so on Friday October 16 Gramsci will finally take the stage at Auckland’s ASB Waterfront Theatre to perform ‘Inheritance’ in its entirety.

“I can’t wait to get into the theatre and share the performance of this album. The performance on stage is the result of so many individual’s effort, it’s really going to be such a relief to all of us involved to finally be able to go through with it. Concerts are a celebration of our freedom to come together, and I think now, more than ever, we truly recognise the privilege of congregation and artistic collaboration in the wake of 2020”, says McLaney.

The show is designed to make maximum effect of the theatres’ cutting edge AV technology and features bespoke lighting design by Zach Howells. College Hill are in charge of the sound, bringing in the most powerful PA that room has ever seen.

At last, this will be a night to celebrate all of those who make it their life’s work to bring us all together to celebrate ourselves, our friends, our hopes, and our dreams. And for Auckland music fans, it sure has been a long time coming!
