James Blake Announces One New Zealand Show

A voice as recognisable for sonorous quality as it is for frequent reinvention, JAMES BLAKE returns to the Southern Hemisphere on the back of the strongest record of his career in Assume Form.

Nearly six years since his last visit for a sold-out show at Auckland Town Hall, Blake has booked Auckland’s Shed 10 for his only New Zealand show on 17 July, before crossing the ditch for Splendour in the Grass.

Blake has hit his straps musically and personally, allowing his devoted fanbase a glimpse into his innermost thoughts on his deeply intimate fourth record. Still riding the faders, pushing the envelope and questioning the listener with his knack for digital manipulation, it’s the beating heart ensconced within the tracks on Assume Form that will make his only Splendour side-show on this side of the Tasman an unforgettable experience.

Reviews for Assume Form:

“The first five-star album of 2019! Proof that James Blake is one of the world’s greatest producers, this loved-up fourth record, featuring Andre 3000 and Travis Scott, sees him finally in control as a brilliant songwriter and emotive lyricist.” ***** – NME

“This dizzyingly romantic album is a beautiful thing to behold.” ***** – The Telegraph

“…the good news is that the perma-brilliant James Blake has flooded his fourth album – Assume Form – with euphoric sepia soul and loved-up doo-wop. His trademark intelligence, honesty and pin-drop production remain intact. But the detached chorister vocals of a decade in which he battled depression have thawed to reveal a millennial Sam Cooke crooning: “Can’t believe the way we flow, way we flow, way we flow…” ***** – The Independent

“James Blake’s most emotionally mature – and sonically interesting – album to date.” **** – NZ Herald

“Assume Form is a remarkable achievement by one of the most original songwriters of his generation.” – Consquence of Sound
