JessB Announces 3-Date New Views Tour

Thursday 8 August, 2019— One day out from the release of her anticipated second EP New Views, Auckland rapper JessB announces a series of live shows in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland next month.

Fresh from an appearance at Splendour in the Grass and a support slot for rising international star Lil Simz, JessB is riding high on the success of her biggest hit yet ‘Bump Bump’ ft Church Leon. She’s getting praise from the likes of tastemaker Zane Lowe and Junkee, who described her appearance at Splendour as “all attitude and energy”.

For JessB herself, it’s time to release and perform the music that reflects the personal development that’s come from new life experiences, as well as spending time with musicians and artists here and overseas.

“I’ve been taking time to connect with creative communities here and in places like New York, London and Amsterdam, and my growth and expanded worldview is what New Views is all about.

“I’m grateful to Red Bull for giving me access to their studio for writing and recording, and now helping me to create a really special JessB live experience.”

You don’t want to miss JessB’s signature high energy live show, with a red hot support line up of Silva MC, Vayne and half.queen. Exclusive limited edition merchandise will be available at the shows including the vinyl edition of New Views. Tickets to these very special shows go on sale today at 9am at Cosmic Ticketing.

JessB Biography

She made the New Zealand hip hop scene take notice in 2017 when she delivered a compelling performance as the first female MC to perform on David Dallas’  Red Bull 64 Bars, and backed it up with a string of tracks that showed the newcomer was here to stay.

Now, with the release of her second EP New Views, JessB is much more than a promising talent. She’s got streams in the millions, has spins on commercial and alternative radio, and if anyone in the music industry didn’t know her before the New Zealand Music Awards last year, she changed that with a roof-raising performance of ‘Set It Off’.

Since releasing her debut EP Bloom last year, JessB has been expanding her world, spending time with creatives in London, Amsterdam, LA and New York, performing at Venice Biennale, in London and across Australia. She played Splendour in the Grass just weeks ago.

When she hasn’t been getting stamps on her passport, JessB has continued to infiltrate the New Zealand music industry from within – she’s toured with role-model Ladi6 and supported SIX60 and Fat Freddy’s drop, as well as international acts YG, Lil Simz and Stormzy. You would have seen JessB on the bill for many of New Zealand’s major music festivals, something that’ll undoubtedly be the case once more in the summer ahead.

When she wasn’t spending her days and nights writing and recording at Red Bull Music Studios, Jess has been flexing her creative chops as part of the new generation of local artists. She ran a week-long workshop at Roundhead Studio with some of her favourite artists and producers, and co-curates the popular Filth club night with regular collaborator half.queen.

Has it really only been two years since we started hearing about JessB?
