John Doe & His Folk Trio Tell Fables In A Foreign Land
John Doe has a folk trio! Not only is he a member of one of THE great punk bands, X, but he’s just about to release Fables In A Foreign Land. Here he is to tell us all about it.
The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda spoke to John, who is at home in Austin, Texas, where he, drummer Conrad Choucroun and bassist Kevin Smith have laid down 13 new folk songs all of which take place in the 1890’s. There’s romance, murder and Destroying Angels and there’s help from Exene, Shirley Manson and Steve Berlin. It’s the John Doe Folk Trio!
