Lucy Gray – We Were The Scene: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Lucy Gray is a 17-year-old singer/songwriter from Christchurch who has just released her new single titled, we were the scene.

Here is the blurb with more:

Lucy Gray‘we were the scene’ is 17-year-old Lucy Gray’s fifth release, following up her successful  single ‘not fair’ which currently has over 16,000 streams on Spotify. ‘We were the scene’ single is nostalgic, yearning and reflects on childhood. It’s about the feeling of wishing you could be a kid again, and in the words of one of the song’s inspiring sources, ‘wanting back girlhood’.

This song was funded by NZ on Air, and Lucy recorded this song in a home studio with a modern, eclectic duo, and AMA-nominated and APRA award-winning producers Andy and Vic Knopp. Plenty of artsy acoustic layers, mixed with vulnerable and distinctive vocal harmonies; this song emulates Fearless era Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, and Gracie Abrams.

One of the things that makes this song interesting is the character of Lucy’s voice. Andy and Vic’s recording manages to showcase the unique nature of her tone & phrasing, capturing an impressive emotional range & all while sounding effortlessly produced.
