Metal Round-up April 10th 2015
It’s a pretty exciting time of year, with some MASSIVE gigs coming up, and some amazing music sneaking ever closer. This bogan is excited! There has also been some sad news, what with the tour van of KHAOTIKA and WORMREICH crashing with three fatalities, and Scott Kelly of Neurosis fame’s wife becoming gravely ill, so here is a amusing screenshot of Shane Embury from Napalm Death to lighten the news..
So the big gig on the horizon is of course Napalm Death and Carcass. You may have noticed I have been on the interview train recently, and you can have a listen to Shane Embury here and Bill Steer here. This gig promises to be one of the best in recent years, with one show already sold out you better hurry to get tickets for the two remaining, as the tickets are flying pretty quick! Link to the obligatory AK after party here.
Tomorrow night (11/4) there are a couple of gigs to choose from in Auckland; first up is Conniptions Last Tour, in what seems to be a house party at 88 Lincoln St, Ponsonby. This will be Conniptions last show in Auckland for a long time, and it looks mighty fine! FREE, AA, BYO.
Featuring:
- Conniption
Graves
Trepanation
Spiteful Urinator
Slug Hugger
Secondly is some dirty rock ‘n roll at lucha lounge feat. Lost Rockets, Bloodbags and the Cavemen.
Next week on the 16th of April we have Midnight’s No Mercy Down Under! thanks to Headless Horseman, and it will be fucking awesome. Midnight, Cleveland’s hooded prophets of Mayhemic Destruction return down under for the first time since 2012. Hot off the release of their No Mercy for Mayhem album, Midnight are ready to rip, shit, and bust in New Zealand and Australia!
Joining them on all dates are New Zealand’s Bulletbelt. Fresh from their 2014 support slots with Sepultura, Ringworm, Primate, and… The Seekers, Bulletbelt are hitting Australia for the second time in six months, touring behind their well-received Rise of the Banshee album.

$15 at the door
It’s probably the only time I’m ever bummed not to be in Napier, so if you can make it, check it out!
On the 23th April we have Punk legends the Dickies beginning their NZ tour. THE DICKIES have survived line-up changes and untimely deaths and continue to play and record today with founding members Stan Lee and Leonard Graves Phillips. The energy and ferocity of the band who are celebrating their 38th anniversary in 2015 still excites fans and critics alike. Live faves such as ‘Gigantor’, ‘I’m OK, You’re OK’, ‘’Paranoid’, ‘You Drive Me Ape’, ‘Killer Klowns’, ‘Doggy Do’, ‘Nights in White Satin’ and of course ‘Banana Splits’ never stray from the set list.
