Nathan Haines – Come Into The Light: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

Musician/composer/producer Nathan Haines has released his new single, Come Into the Light, featuring rising Auckland-based vocalist La Coco, the first single from his highly anticipated 11th studio album.

The single is the first release from Haines’ 11th album NOTES, set for release August 9. After a 10 year writing and recording period initially starting with UK-based producer Phil AsherHaines was tasked with finishing the album after Phil’s sudden death three years ago. Completed by Haines alongside collaborators like Marc Mac (4 Hero), Marc de Clive-Lowe, Jkrive (Razor-N-Tape), Frank Booker and more, the resulting album features the jazz-inspired electronic sound which has made Nathan Haines one of NZ’s most acclaimed musical exports and is his most-personal and assured album to date.

Well-known as a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer, Nathan Haines is a genre-bending musician with an instantly recognisable sound and approach.

To date, Haines’ acclaimed career has seen him release 10 albums and countless collaborations, highlighted by his classic albums SHIFT LEFTSQUIRE FOR HIRE and SOUND TRAVELSA multiple-time Jazz Album of the Year winner, Haines has spent his musical life at the forefront of both electronic and jazz music in NZ and beyond.

His first album in over six years features production from legendary UK producer Phil Asher, one of his final projects before his untimely passing in 2021. While still maintaining the jazz sound and influence he is renowned for, the album sees Haines embracing the electronic/house/disco scene with the album sitting on the jazz end of the electronic spectrum.

Haines’ list of collaborators over his storied career includes Damon Albarn, Marlena Shaw, Mark de Clive Lowe and the NZ Symphony Orchestra, alongside current collaborators Flamingo Pier, Frank Booker and Chaos in the CBD.

Nathan Haines is an artist who is pushing the boundaries of both electronic and jazz music and is celebrated in both circles.
