New Song Of The Day: Ciaran McMeeken – Wi-Fi

Local lad Ciaran McMeeken has just released a new single and a new video to go along with it. Wi-Fi is taken from McMeeken’s self-titled debut album.

Here’s the record company blurb:

Ciaran McMeeken is proud to release his latest single and official video, ‘Wi-Fi’, following a whirlwind 25-date nationwide tour promoting his self-titled album released late last year.

Following on from radio supported singles ‘Which Way Can We Go’ and ‘That Feeling’, ‘Wi-Fi’ is his most fun and playful single to date. Telling the gripping story of a travelling man who tries to win the heart of a local waitress, ‘Wi-Fi’ is a light-hearted, endearing song with an infectious groove and melody. Ciaran has intertwined classic songwriting with a modern twist, that will leave you with a giant grin and hope for humanity. If Paul Simon met Buena Vista Social Club, this would be their love child.

In the spirit of DIY and the ‘number 8 wire’ mentality, Ciaran and his friends hand-crafted the official video, which captures their collaboration and comradeship, resulting in this infectiously fun-loving pastiche clip full of dry humour.

“It’s a really cool thing to make art and share the creative journey with my closest humans. We had such a laugh making this video” – Ciaran McMeken.

Following on from the success of his recent tour, Ciaran will be appearing at Homegrown Festival on April 7th, along with a stellar lineup of New Zealand’s most beloved musicians.
