R.I.P. Betty Wright
Here’s more bad news…Betty Wright, the soulful singer whose recording of Clean Up Woman was a massive hit in 1971, has died at age 66.
Wright recorded Clean Up Woman when she was just 17…her first album was released when she was 14. Additionally, she was nominated for 6 Grammys and helped Joss Stone get her start back in 2003. Clean Up Woman was also widely sampled, spreading its influence into the 21st century. Betty Wright died of cancer.
