R.I.P. Hal Blaine (Wrecking Crew Drummer)

We here at 13th Floor are saddened to hear of the death of drummer Hal Blaine at the age of 90.

Hal Blaine’s work as one of the LA session musicians known as “The Wrecking Crew” is legendary. His drumming is on so many hit records, its almost impossible to list them all. That’s him on most of the great Beach Boys‘ records of the 60s. He also can be heard on The Byrds’ Mr Tambourine Man, Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water, Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ and The Raiders’ Indian Reservation.

Perhaps one of his greatest recording was on Tommy Roe’s 1969 hit Dizzy:
