R.I.P. Johnny Nash

With the music world still reeling from the news of the death of Eddie Van Halen, spare a thought for Johnny Nash who also passed away yesterday, age 80.

Known primarily for his 1972 hit, I Can See Clearly Now, Nash had been recording since 1957 with his hits Hold Me Tight (1968), Stir It Up (1971) and I Can See Clearly Now introducing American music fans to rocksteady and reggae.

In addition to his singing career, Johnny Nash was an accomplished actor and businessman. And don’t forget he wrote and produced I Can See Clearly Now as well.
