Up-and-coming Bay of Plenty artist Sophie-Maude is back with her new single, a synthrock

“The song is about you being the one who takes control of the decisions in your life,” says
Co-written by Nathan Sowter and Sophie-Maude, the single was recorded, mixed and
mastered by Nathan Sowter at Link Flamingo Studios in Mount Maunganui. The guitars
on the track were played by Dylan from Summer thieves.
Stylistically, ‘Goosebumps’ hints at the direction Sophie-Maude is heading with her
music. “I love exploring new styles within music. After we assembled a new band together for live shows, we realised that leaning towards the rock side of things makes sense as all of the band members love the genre.” she explains. “Nic from Devilskin is now on the drums.
Playing in the band has opened up ways to write songs – this is my Avril Lavigne era.”
Born and raised in Tauranga, Sophie-Maude makes music that is driven by a desire to
motivate, inspire and tell her story her way. By drawing from her own life experiences and
coping with Autism, ADHD, OCD and Tourette’s syndrome, she articulates stories and
shared perspectives that connect with audiences across the spectrum.
First emerging on the music scene with the single ‘Insane.’ Since then she caught the
attention of Shelton Woolright and has featured on both his solo project Deadbeat on the
song ‘Diamonds’ and more recently on Blindspott’s latest EP on the track ‘A Perfect
Goosebumps follows the successful release of her recent single ‘Take
Me Away’, which went to number 1 on the NZ Hot 40 Singles Chart and firmly places her
at the heart of a new wave of up-and-coming ‘ones to watch’ on the New Zealand music
