The Dawns – Alibi: 13th Floor New Song Of The Day

The Dawns don’t need an Alibi, but they have one anyway and its our New Song Of The Day.

The Dawns are a Kiwi band on the rise. They were featured last night on TV3’s Head High and here they are today on The 13th Floor! Here’s the blurb:

The Dawns are a four piece band who have recently drawn the attention of local prime time media; with appearances on Seven Sharp, What Now (live) and most recently, a role on Head High playing the school band for Southdown College where they perform their original song ‘Alibi’.

The band consists of Mila Guttenbeil (vocals, rhythm guitar), Elliott Smart (drums, percussion), Georgia Wallace (lead guitar) and Imogen Pearce (bass, backing vocals) who met at Ponsonby Intermediate and now go to Western Springs College, Mt Albert Grammar and Epsom girls. They are all 15 to 16 years old and do all their own management at this stage.

The DawnsThey’ve enjoyed viral success with their YouTube channel, which grabbed the attention of Seven Sharp and in turn landed them the opportunity to perform on Head High. The girls had the exciting experience of being on set and in costume for the scene, and performed live for a packed school hall of 1,000 student extras and many of the core cast.

The Dawns bio:

Mila (Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar), Imogen (Backing Vocals & Bass), Georgia (Lead Guitar) and Elliott (Drums), four Kiwi girls doing what they do best, playing music and enjoying themselves while doing it.

The DawnsAfter five years of playing and performing music together, The Dawns have grown out of the garage and into the eye of the world. While seeming incompatible and “too young”, The Dawns have proved everyone wrong showing the world who they truly are.

Not playing into the girly acoustic sound of most girls their age, The Dawns strive to break that mold with their indie alternative rock. The Dawns are a group of determined young girls who belong on the stage playing the music they love. A promising future lies ahead of The Dawns and they will continue to form to their potential every single day, together.
