Tina Cross Joins Magical New Production Of Wicked!

Something WICKED this way comes…

Flying into Sky City Theatre for a limited season in September 2021, North Shore Music Theatre are set to take Auckland audiences on a ‘swankified’ journey to the Emerald City and back again in WICKED the Musical – with Kiwi theatre royalty Tina Cross bringing her own brand of magic to the stage.

The second highest grossing musical in Broadway history, WICKED tells the incredible untold story of two girls who first meet as sorcery students: the blonde and very popular Galinda (Teresa Wojtowicz) and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba (Heather Wilcock).

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda the Good and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West.

Starring as Madam Morrible, the teacher who sets them each on a path towards their respective destinies, is New Zealand theatre legend and North Shore Music Theatre patron Tina Cross.

Cross is an icon of the New Zealand entertainment industry and in a career spanning more than four decades, she is still very much at the top of her game. She was last seen on stage with North Shore Music Theatre in their 2011 production of Miss Saigon and is thrilled to be back onstage with them again.

“Wicked is a production that’s spectacular visually in every way – nobody misses that, or the unforgettable songs like Defying Gravity,” shares Ms. Cross, “but at its heart, there are positive messages throughout that touch everyone. ‘For Good’ says it all.”

“On another note, I’m excited to be finally playing a character who is around about my own age!! I’m looking forward to stepping into Madam Morrible’s shoes.”

A lavish production aiming to attract audiences of around 15,400, WICKED will feature:
  • A fully Auckland-region based cast of over 40 top New Zealand talent
  • Exquisite costuming
  • Sumptuous sets and staging

Tickets range from $39 to $79 and are available from www.iticket.co.nz.
