Torrey Talking: Ryann Gonsalves and Bay Area Dreampop: Interview

Torrey have just released their self-titled second album today. Hailing from the San Fran bay area here is Ryann Gonsalves, one half of the Torrey creative team that includes her brother Kelly.

The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda spoke to Ryann just as the band’s new album was about to be released. With a record-release show booked the next day, Ryann kindly took time out from rehearsals to fill us in on making the new record.

According to their new label, Slumberland Records, some musical touchstones might include Lush, Drop Nineteens, Cocteau Twins and The Breeders, but Torrey have a deft grasp of their craft and a forward-thinking studio approach that places them very much in the NOW.
