Trinity Roots Announce January ’21 Shows with Special Guest Tiny Ruins (solo)

Summer 2021 will see Aotearoa’s finest indigenous reggae and slow burning funk group Trinity Roots taking to the stage as an extended line up – consisting of a compact horn section, percussion, and additional vocalists. Joined on all three shows by very special guest Tiny Ruins (solo).

Their vision is to take their well-loved and long cherished songs, intimate vocal harmonies, hypnotic grooves and dramatic moments that have become synonymous with the Trinity Roots ‘sound’ over the last two decades and flesh them out into a panoramic musical experience.

These shows will be the first time the group have taken to the stage in over a year. This is your chance to see Trinity Roots like never before, with new arrangements and an extended band in a consciously curated performance.

While the global pandemic forced most of us to slow down, it also gave space to take stock of what really matters in life. This process got the band thinking about the qualities that sit at the core of their music and how they might translate their values through it. There’s a potent metaphor to consider here – the focus on harmony and dynamics could be analogous with events that have occurred globally.

The band believes when there is a sense of social cohesion great things are achieved and felt. At the  same time, Trinity Roots’ music has always been about the journey. Whether it’s a 20 min sojourn a la ‘Sense &  Cents’, the heartfelt rallying call of ‘Home, Land & Sea’, or ‘Beautiful People’s’ gentle reflections on human  potential – the objective is always to take the audience on a journey and return home, sated.

By honing in on their core qualities with support from an extended live band, Trinity Roots intend to present a reflective and inclusive experience to momentarily wrap a musical ‘korowai’ around us all, and continue to resonate long after the last lyric is sung.

We hope to bring this new energy to audiences around the country and have shaped a new stage show to reflect these experiences and realisations.” – Trinity Roots
