Wallace – Orchid Care is the 13th Floor’s Song of the Day

Wallace faces her fears on her elegant and brave new single Orchid Care – another exquisite single from her upcoming album due for release later this year.

Wallace just dropped her latest single WallaceOrchid Care and shares she has a whole album in the makes, set to release sometime in 2022. Here is what the media blurb reveals.

A song that’s all about the aftermath of terrible timing, Orchid Care showcases Wallace’s unmistakable sound, which pairs sultry, jazz-influenced vocals with silky smooth R’n’B beats and relatable lyrics.

“There is a moodiness to this track, but also a sense of coming to terms with the fact that things are more romantic when they’re left unfinished. You’re able to hold onto small moments longer because you didn’t get to a stage where you were fighting about who should do the dishes,” says Wallace.
“I’m not good at being vulnerable, even through song, so this is me facing my fears and letting you in a bit more,” she adds.

Orchid Care was recorded and mixed in London, UK, and mastered in Sydney, Australia – both cities that Wallace has spent considerable time in, in recent years, when she’s not back in her hometown of Wellington.

“This song reflects a side of me that I don’t let my audiences see very much. I’m working on some tracks right now that take this idea further. I am committed to singing about my own experiences more,” she says.

Orchid Care was produced by the Dutch producer and live artist, Feiertag – who works with the highly influential Berlin-based label, Sonar Kollektiv.

The track follows on from Wallace’s singles Jane Doe, Good As Gold, Venus, The Birth Of, and most recently Every Stroke, which has amassed tens of thousands of streams and earned placement on Spotify playlists such as Equal AU & NZ. It also signals what fans can expect from Wallace on her upcoming album.

The award-winning Wallace has clocked up an impressive list of achievements since she first emerged on the local scene. Her music has taken her across the globe, touring alongside artists such as Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, MorcheebaLittle SimzWinston Surfshirt and Jordan Rakei and working with acts like Sampa The Great and the Thundamentals.

Her sound is steeped in a mosaic of jazz, blues, hip-hop and soul, alongside trademark jazz-influenced vocals and a magnetic presence.
