Watch: Ray Davies Claims Kinks Are Back In The Studio

File this one under “we’ve heard it all before”. Former Kinks front man Ray Davies has claimed the he and the surviving members of the band are recording a new album, and plan to play some shows.

Watch the BBC Channel 4 News interview with Davies, and you will hear one of the greatest songwriters of the past 75 years claiming he’s getting the band back together. This would mean that Ray would reunite with his younger brother, guitarist Dave Davies, and drummer Mick Avory (original bass player Pete Quaife died in 2010).

While this would be excellent news, don’t get your hopes up. Ray has made these claims in the past and nothing has happened. What is happening is that Ray Davies is releasing a new album on Friday titled Our Country: Americana Act ll. What better way to get some publicity for the new album than to get folks all revved up for a Kinks reunion.

The one glimmer of hope is that Ray and Dave did share the same stage for the first time since 1996 at the end of 2015. While a Kinks reunion would be something to look forward to…don’t hold your breath just yet.
