Good morning from the 13th Floor. Here is the latest round-up of what is happening in music and film.

New Music 

Heavy metal band Adrenaline Mob bring out their eleven track album Men of Honour.

The beautiful and talented opera singer Cecilia Bartoli releases Rossini: Le Comte Ory.

Drive by Truckers, the band from Athens, Georgia have produced their latest album English Oceans.

Peace at Last is The Blue Nile album which has a strong emphasis on the acoustic guitar. There are ten tracks including the lead single Happiness.

Rufus Wainwright is continuing to impress pop music lovers. His latest album Live from the Artist’s Den, sees him playing for an audience at the Church of Ascension.

New Music Events

The Fiddler Irish Bar will host The Mangled Brothers on Tuesday, March 4th from 9pm-12am.

The British electronic music quartet Rudimental are performing live at Vector Arena on Tuesday, March 4th.

Legendary Corner Hotel music industry band The Party Animals are making their first ever trip to New Zealand and will be performing at Kings Arms on Thursday, March 6th at 8:30pm.

Auckland band Clap Clap Riot are celebrating the release of their second album with a four show tour, beginning with a gig at Galatos on Friday, Match 7th from 8pm-10pm.

New Movies

Spinning Plates goes behind the scenes and looks at the people who run three critically acclaimed restaurants in this feature-length documentary.

300: Rise of an Empire is the prequel to Zack’s Snyder’s 300. The film follows the titanic clash between the Spartans and the Persians.300: Rise of an Empire, Movie

Based on the bestselling fiction series, Vampire Academy comes to the big screen. It follows the life of Damphir, a guardian in training who is to protect humans from the bloodthirsty immortal vampires living in the world.

All the films come out on Thursday, March 6th.

New DVDs

After the events in Thor and The Avengers, the fight to restore peace in the cosmos continues in Thor: The Dark World.

Beyond the Edge follows the expedition undertaken by Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay as they seek to climb up Mt. Everest. It stars Chad Moffiet as Sir Ed and is directed by Leanne Pooley.
