Concert Review: Hannah Fang & Friends – 107 Neilson St 13 Feb 2020

Wow! A visual and aural overload in, of all places, Onehunga, as Hannah Fang and her friends put on a spectacular show.

I admit being a bit skeptical as I approached what looked like a cross between a warehouse and an airline hanger to catch Hannah’s big show.

Sure enough, this was the place. The stage looked flashy even if the room lacked a “vibe”. A good crowd filled the plastic chairs… lots of children, families, etc.

The music took off at 8pm and what a take-off! Sadly I can’t tell you the names of the selections but I can tell you that the musicianship and showmanship were breathtaking.

There were costume changes galore along with a backing band, but really, all eyes were on Hannah. And her violin!

Throughout the two-hour show other musicians, rappers, dancers came and went, but there was no one on hand to tell us who they were. This was one show that could have used an MC.

No matter, take a look at the photos and then check out our 13th Floor Video Session with Hannah which we’ll post soon.

The only thing missing on the night was some interaction with the audience. Barely a word was uttered on stage. But kudos to Hannah’s supporting crew for turning such an ordinary room into something extraordinary.

There were dancers, explosions, stunning lighting and incredible music. I guess that should be enough!
