Friday 13th Floor New Album Picks: Feb 10, 2023

It’s Friday! And that means there’s plenty of new music out there. The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda picks 5 new albums for your consideration just released today.

Ok folks, here they are…there’s something for everyone in this week’s picks:

  1. Yo La TengoThis Stupid World (Matador) The New Jersey trio’s 17th album and first in 5 years. Matador is calling it ‘the most live-sounding Yo La Tengo in years’.

2. ParamoreThis Is Why (Atlantic) Another trio! Hard rocking Paramore release their 6th album today lead by vocalist Hayley Williams. According to Atlantic Records, this one is ‘more guitar driven’.

3. Amber ArcadesBarefoot On Diamond Road (Fire) Dutch singer Amber Arcades (aka Annelelotte de Graaf) new album is described as ‘like My Bloody Valentine gone acoustic’. Fire Records says its ‘her most breath-taking album yet’.

4. Andy Shauf Norm (Anti-) This is the Canadian singer/songwriter’s 8th album and 4th for Anti-. Not only is it self-produced, but Andy plays all the instruments. Most intriguingly, it is inspired by David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive.

5. The Runaway GroomsThis Road (Self) This Colorado jam band recorded This Road in Memphis where they say they ‘returned to more of an American roots rocks songwriting style’ Five songs in 35 minutes!. For fans of Allman Bros/Steely Dan/Lynyrd Skynryd
