Meatloaf Has Died! R.I.P.

Meatloaf has died at age 74. The big man with the even bigger voice has passed away surrounded by his family.

The Bat Out Of Hell singer’s given name was Marvin Lee Aday and his 1977 album, Bat Out Of Hell sold over 65 million copies. He began his career in the early 1970s as one half of the duo Stoney and Meatloaf who recorded for the Motown subsidiary label Rare Earth Records. They had a minor hit in 1971 with their single What You See Is What You Get.

Things finally clicked for the mighty Mr. Loaf when he met Jim Steinman and along with producer Todd Rundgren, they made Bat Out Of Hell with standout tracks like You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad and Paradise By The Dashboard Lights.

There were more hits to follow, most notably I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That). His career was littered with controversies and health scares but throughout it all he remained larger than life.
